Calendar for December 2001

Helmets are required on all Cascade Bicycle Club rides. All the rides are classified according to pace and the type of services provided by the ride leader. In order to pick the rides that suit your skills and energy level, please view the pace guidelines and ride classifications.

Cascade Bicycle Club does not sponsor or endorse any non-bicycling activities that people may participate in while on these rides. You are responsible for your conduct and decisions while on a Cascade ride.

Cascade membership and activities are open to everyone able and willing to participate in a safe and cooperative manner and in support of the purposes of the club.

It is not the practice of the Cascade Bicycle Club to exclude anyone from a club activity as long as they behave in a safe and cooperative manner.

Kids' Ride To Log Boom Park

Kids, bring your parents for a bike ride. We will ride north on the Burke-Gilman Trail to Tracy Owen Station near Kenmore. We will play there for about 15 minutes and then return to Matthews Beach. Matthews Beach parking lot is near NE 93rd & Sand Point Way NE. For questions, please call us before 8:00pm.

Ride South End Of Lake Washington

Ride from South Bellevue Park & Ride via Lake Washington Blvd., through Renton, back north on Rainier, Lakeside, to Leschi for a snack or late lunch, back east over I-90 to the Park & Ride. Fairly flat ride, a few hills. Directions: Take Exit 9 off of I-90, drive north two blocks, Park & Ride is on your right.

Riding Through The Winter

Route and distance to be determined by weather. Any precipitation or serious likelihood of precipitation, cancels - as does snow or black ice conditions - but not temperature. BRING FOOD. No food stop.

Saints & Sinners

A fun ride for those who attend church in the morning (the saints), or are recovering from last night (the sinners). No need to identify your category. We ride at high moderate to low brisk pace. Stop afterwards for a bite and brew.

MUMPS: Do The Lake

A fun, north Lake Washington loop ride with a food stop enroute. Join us in Kenmore - or meet us at Coffee Crew (NE 45th St. at 36th Ave NE) at approximately 10:45am or at Pert's Deli (Leschi Park) at approximately 11:15am. Distance and pace will vary to suit group. Check with leaders if weather is questionable.

TREATS: North City Tour

Tour areas north of UW past Bitter Lake to Shoreline, around Innis Arden, then drop down to Lake Forest Park for lunch. Return via Burke-Gilman Trail with deviation around Nathan Hale HS and down 20th.

Lights required October thru April! Year-round training rides for one-day STP riders. Rides stress safety, fitness, and group riding skills. Fast paceline with some sprints from Renton to surrounding areas. Large turnout splits into faster/slower groups.

Sara's South End Saunter - Renton to Covington

Ride the Devil's Elbow to May Valley, then lunch in Maple Valley or Covington. Take Exit #4 off of I-405, go south 1 block on Hwy 169, turn right into Renton Community Center/Carco Theater. Meet near the Community Center.
Wednesday, December 5th

Alki Wednesday Night Series

Ride leaves promptly at 7:05. Routes this month will include Christmas venues such as Olympic Manor, Candy Cane Lane and Laurelhurst (if the mysterious ride leader for Laurelhurst shows up. D.R.). Ride pace will be moderate to brisk. Dinner stop at Pegasus Pizza after ride.

FRUMPS: Stay On The Level

Rain, ice, and/or snow will cancel this ride. We will lunch in Sumner. If we have to shorten the ride because of threatening looking weather, we will eat at Sun Break Caf=E9 in Auburn. Direction to start: Going south on I-5, take Exit 154 onto I-405, then Exit 1 and go north on Interurban (under I-405), right on Ft. Dent Way, left at the traffic circle, over the bridge and meet us at the end lot (near the restrooms).

Sno-Mon Loop

Please join us for a joint ride with the Evergreen Tandem Club that follows a scenic rural route through Maltby, Snohomish, and Monroe. Single bikes are always welcome. We will stop at the Snohomish Pie Company, so bring money for goodies and also bring your own food. This is a training ride so we won't linger too long, but we will make plenty of stops for photo ops, restrooms, and snacks. Post-ride brew and eats at the Woodinville Red Hook Brewery's Forecasters Pub. Directions: From I-405 take eastbound Exit #23 (SR522 toward Monroe and Wenatchee) to the Woodinville exit. Turn right at the end of the exit ramp and go to NE 175th St (second light). Turn right again, cross the railroad tracks and turn left at the stop sign onto 202nd. Pass Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery on your right, and Columbia Winery, Redhook Brewery, Herbfarm, and Willow Lodge on your left. Cross the Sammamish River Bridge and take the next left into the parking lot next to the softball fields (Northshore Sports Complex).

Join us for a ride around Lake Sammamish with a stop at the Krispy Kream donut shop to see what all the fuss is about. We'll burn the donut calories off on the way back. Meet at the totem pole parking lot at the west end of the park.
