Dear Chas:-
Yours of the 28th is before me. Today is practically the last of school.
...
I expect Turner over tomorrow morning and will have a wawa. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. I want to make the trip, BUT if there ever was a time to stay, it is this summer.
The wheels came today - two beauties made to order, and everything complete, even to extra parts, wheel trunks, etc. I lifted my wheel and it weighed 40 pounds, opened the trunk and found it full of circulars such as I enclose to you. We will pack them as far as South Seattle and the fire them into the bay, or make a bonfire of them. The wheels are heavy roadsters, about 28# each but they are probably what we want for rough work, but as I said, they are beauties now.
Don't let the papers mention it till I tell you I am on the way. I am not feeling first rate, but I think I will feel better after getting on the road if it doesn't wear me out. If it wasn't for disappointing Turner and the Wheel Company, I wouldn't go, simply because it won't pay me. I have taken out accident policy, and I shall leave all my papers at the P. S. National Bank. I'll send one key to you and leave one with Gleason. My papers of other description I shall leave at Buck's. I have deposits at Bank of Br. Columbia, and Scandanavia Bank, besides certificates of deposit at Dexter Horton & P. S. National which are in my little box at the bank.
...
Revolver came yesterday. Wouldn't carry it on account of weight, except I thought there might be some use for it in killing bears, mountian lions, tramps, sand flies, and it may come useful in securing quick meals at farmhouses.
Will
