Politics


On May 14, 1896 a letter to his brother spends much of its length discussing the successes of the school ball team and the completion of the new ball field. He comments a little on national politics:

Dear Chas:-

...

State convention met today in Everett. Did nothing of importance today but I think that they will instruct for McKinley and declare for sound money, or rather against free silver. You will of course know the result long before this reaches you. McKinley doesn't seem to need Washington's delegates. He appears to be a winner.

...

No other news -- except that Bessie Beach surprised us by riding a wheel tonight.
