He writes again to his brother the next day, Sunday, April 26, 1896:

Dear Charles:-

As it again begins to look as if I might possibly get away to make the wheel trip east, I am looking around to see what I can get out of it. The Cleveland Leader can not use my articles and I must strike some other paper. Possibly Remick may be able to see something in it for him at $5.00 a column. I won't write for fun, but I think I can make the letters interesting to Ashtabula Co. people. Or can we not make arrangements with two Ashtabula Co. papers which go to press the same day to give them the same letters at half price. It will help pay the expenses of the trip. You need not tell them that the Leader has no use for me.

By the way, what do you consider a good investment for $1000 to $1500 at the present time? I've got more money than I know what to do with. ... If I run across any snap in real estate here, in a good location, so that I could build on it sometime if I remain in the west, I believe I would take it.

What kind of shape is your revolver in, and what will you take for it? I have to provide a gun for the trip, and would take yours if it is not in bad shape inside. You could sent it by mail to me. We expect to meet some dogs between here and Austinburg, and occasionally a member of the Sons of Rest. Turner has already purchased a camera. It is an open question which will kill the most.

So long.

Will
