Firm Plans Taking Shape

The weekly letters to and from Jefferson, Ohio continue with this one dated in Seattle on April 25, 1896:

Dear Charles:-

Yours of the 19th came today.

...

Again it looks as if I should get away to make the trip awheel which I have mentioned. The Ariel Wheel people have practically made us an offer of wheels for the trip. Their general agent was here today and said he thought it would be OK but that he would write to the company. The agent here, Mr. Rinker, received a letter some time ago saying that any arrangements Mr. Plough (the general agent) would make would be all right. So you see it looks more favorable. What will you give me for my new Cleveland? It's a dandy. We have opened a correspondence with wheelmen from here to the Mississippi and are getting some nice letters. We would have company most of the way from town to town - probably some entertainment - in case our whiskers were not too long. By the time I get an answer from you to this, I shall be about to make up my mind for sure. Do you think it would be a fool-hearty undertaking? I think that all I shall tell the folks at home is that I am going over to Eastern Washington on my wheel and when once I get started, I can tell more about whether I can stand it to go through. It has been done by a dozen different riders alone, and there are two of us.

So long,

Will
