A New Wheel ?

In a letter dated April 18, 1896 in Seattle, Washington, WFB writes to his Brother Charles in Ohio, from his apartment in Seattle. It begins describing lots of gossip about the neighborhood, where Charles lived the year before:

Dear Chas:-

Can't tell yet how our proposed eastern trip will come out. This afternoon I addressed a dozen letters to wheelmen along the line of the N.P. inquiring about roads. The Ariel agent here wishes to go also and believes the company will fit the three of us as an advertisement. Don't believe I shall make the attempt unless I can get a wheel or see my way clear to some remuneration.

McKinley is undoubtedly the favorite in this state, but some combination may perhaps keep the delegates from being instructed for him. Four fifths of the party here favor him I think. Washington being so near the foot of the list (alphabetically) that it may be deemed best not to hamper the delegation.
