The Protagonists
Arthur L. Turner
Turner was a longtime resident of Port Townsend, where he worked
as an accountant, assistant postmaster, and in his spare time, in addition
to cycling, he was an amateur photographer. He carried a Kodak on
his handlebars for the entire trip, and there was much mention of all the
photographs he took. One of my biggest disappointments is that we
have found none of the 200 or more exposures that he took. It is possible
that they are stored in some dusty attic somewhere, and perhaps someday
we will yet see them.
