Stolen Bike Listing
Theft Prevention

Bikes are stolen from bike racks, porches, garages, school yards and just about everywhere a bike can be left unattended.

  • Secure your bike to a sturdy, solid, fixed object.
  • Use a good lock. Thin cable locks and chains are easily cut. Consider investing in a u-lock such as the Kryptonite New York FAHGETTABOUDIT, which comes with a $4500 warrenty.
  • Two locks are more of a deterrant than one because it's more trouble to cut two locks.
  • Try to park your bike indoors if possible.
  • Register your bike with the National Bike Registry.
  • Seattle Police/Bicycle Registry Program, (206) 684-8720
  • Spread the word! List your stolen bike with the free stolenbikeregistry.
  • Be a good community member. If you see someone trying to steal a bike, speak up.  We don't recommend putting yourself in harm's way. Call the police. Try to get the attention of more people in the area. Thieves do not like attention. It may be enough to deter them from continuing.

Ever wonder how easy it is for your bike to get stolen? Watch this video.
