Adaptive Cycling

If you are physically-challenged and seeking recreational athletic opportunities in the Northwest, there are many avenues open to you in the area of cycling. Sometimes called adaptive cycling, handcycling, or by other names - the following organizations, many 501c3 charities, can get you started on a program to keep you in shape physically and mentally, while meeting others.

The Mike Utley Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for spinal cord injuries. It is committed to providing financial support of selected research, rehabilitation and education programs on spinal cord injuries. It is further committed to provide motivational and emotional support for individuals who have been disabled with such injuries. The Foundation will seek financial assistance through special events, fundraising, including direct mail, and corporate and individual support throughout the United States and Canada.

Team Survivor Northwest (TSNW) is a local nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a broad range of fitness and health education programs to enable women cancer survivors, in any stage of treatment or recovery and at any fitness level, to take an active role in their ongoing physical and emotional healing. TSNW offers a variety of programs to meet the needs of women cancer survivors, including cycling.

TSNW offers both beginning and intermediate/advanced cycling programs as well as fun cycling day trips and opportunities to train with other women survivors for long, challenging rides.
